I scouted the Manana Trail - Ewa Forest Reserve by Pearl city

The next day I scouted the lower portion of the Ewa Forest Reserve.  There are two access points.  One that goes through private property owned by the Dole Pineapple Plantation, (I think) and an entrance that goes through a suburban neighborhood.I didn't want to go through the hassle of the Guard shack at the private property, so I left and tried the Komo Mai Drive entrance.btw, I recognized the elementary school near the Dole entrance from a YouTube video where some kids had taken to a game of…See More

Mongoose hunting

Back in 1985, when I was a young enlisted with the 25th Infantry Division in Schofield, we did a three week light infantry course out in the East Range.  One component of the course was survival hunting.  the special forces guys showed us how to make snares and traps. To demonstrate how to clean and prepare an animal to be eaten, they used a Hav-A-Hart trap set by our trash pickup point.  (A battalion of soldiers generates a ton of food waste from all those MRE packets - back when the Army…See More
